Are Wolves Misrepresented?

Hellooo and Happy Friday Gareth,

Do you operate better as a Lone Wolf, or as part of a Wolfpack?

Dr. Julie Gurner, recently wrote in her Substack that:

“The real titans of industry aren’t team players. they’re lone wolves.”

She used an example of a CEO making an executive decision, contrary to the decision of the Executive team. It allowed the company to tighten up and ultimately increase the bottom line.

Decisions like these require Lone Wolves, because they are willing to put their necks on the line and take the risks required to propel companies/teams forward.

However, a Wolf Pack is still the backbone of companies, teams, societies. It doesn’t mean we have to fit in with each other, but we do need to find our own pack so we can ultimately flourish in life.

I truly believe we need to find a good balance of both, to have the best opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.

The Electron’s Quest for Rest

Albert Szent-Györgyi’s, who discovered Vitamin C, stated:

“Life is nothing but an electron looking for a place to rest.”

In simple terms, electrons are always seeking balance. Like how everything in nature and life, seeks a sense of stability or peace.

If life was a musical symphony. Each note, like an electron, would constantly move and search for its place in the larger piece. Individually, a note may sound incomplete or disjointed, but when combined with other notes in the right way, it creates harmony and a beautiful melody.

Living a good life is like composing this symphony. We go through various experiences, make decisions, and learn along the way.

The key to a fulfilling life is finding that sweet balance.

The Shopping Cart Theory.

The shopping cart is the ultimate litmus test for whether a person is capable of self-governing.

There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart.

Therefore, the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it.

You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your own heart and because it is the right thing to do.

The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society.
