Jody Calitz - Episode 067

“If I wasn’t vegan and so health conscious, I would have been in a much worse state than I am now”

Women’s Health Expert. Ex-Pro Bikini Bodybuilder. Nutritionist. Vegan Athlete. Elite Personal Trainer. Yogi. Holistic Coach. Women’s Transformation Specialist. Smiler.

Your health is the most important thing in your entire life. The beauty of being healthy is that it is actually very very simple if you let it be. Nurturing your body and mind with nature’s natural ingredients and goodness, is the best place to start!

Our guest this week, Jody Calitz, is a lady who knows this all too well. Her whole life has been dedicated to understanding herself and the human body.

Jody Calitz - Vegan Athlete

From an early age, Jody was a quiet girl who was bullied a lot at school and felt isolated. She had insecurities about how she looked, as she had a fuller physique type with red hair and freckles. Losing her Dad early on contributed to why she craved validation and acceptance from other people.

After falling ill with bronchitis and losing a lot of weight as a result, she received a lot of attention and embraced her newfound recognition. However, it got out of control, she stopped eating and over-exercised until she was 17-18 years old, resulting in anorexia.

Her bodybuilding career started in 2010 and she entered her first competition in 2011. By 2015, she had achieved her dream of competing on the international stage as a pro-bikini bodybuilder. She managed that feat by competing as a vegan athlete, which was another social stigma she had to deal with.

2016 provided the biggest wake-up call in her life. She experienced a different kind of physical and mental challenge, it was an acute anxiety disorder, coupled with chronic fatigue syndrome. Walking up one flight of stairs was exhausting and needing 10 hours of sleep a night, eating well, doing yoga and mediation was the medicine she needed.

Jody combines all her skills, knowledge and expertise to help women change their lives for the better. She believes the body does not work in isolation but rather in a very delicate and intimate relationship with the mind (head) and soul (heart). All 3 elements are so closely connected that it becomes vital to work with them as a whole, in order to achieve a complete transformation of health and wellbeing.

We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did.

Let’s find out what it means for Jody Calitz, to be Ridiculously Human.
