Embracing Positivity in Immigration: A Heartwarming Story from the Car Wash

Kriss Berg and I discussed some net positives of Immigration

Given the challenges we see around the world today, and especially immigration issues in the US, here are couple of uplifting stories of Iran and Eduardo, two remarkable individuals who work for Kriss.

Discovering Unexpected Helpers

About a month or two ago, we (Kriss) received a one-star review for our car wash. The review mentioned some guys hanging around, and we were puzzled. After investigating, our attendant found that these men were trying to help customers by drying their cars. They didn’t speak English, so we used Google Translate to communicate. We discovered they were from Venezuela, effectively homeless, and had been bused in like many others. They were just asking, “Can we help you at your car wash?”

A New Beginning at the Car Wash

Initially, we didn’t have the capacity to hire anyone, but we decided to let them help detail cars for tips. We repositioned them to be less intrusive, and now they greet customers as they exit the car wash, offering to dry and detail their cars. They don’t receive a salary from us, but our customers tip them generously. They also help us keep the car wash clean and secure, which is a big plus.

Positive Feedback and Community Impact

The transformation has been incredible. We’ve received five-star reviews praising these guys for their helpfulness. Customers love the convenience of having their cars dried and detailed without having to lift a finger. It’s a win-win situation. Our customers are happy, and Iran and Eduardo have found a way to support themselves.

A Personal Reflection on Immigration

As a patriot, I believe the immigration issue in the US needs addressing. However, it’s essential to remember that these are real people with real needs and dreams. Iran and Eduardo are physically and emotionally hungry to help and to become part of the American dream. While I’m not sure what their long-term future holds, their story is a testament to the positive impact immigrants can have when given a chance.

Conclusion: Embracing a Positive Outlook

In conclusion, this experience has taught me a lot about the importance of compassion and understanding in the immigration debate. Iran and Eduardo have not only helped our car wash but have also reminded us of the human side of immigration. It’s a story of resilience, hope, and the positive contributions immigrants can make to our communities.

Let’s continue to support and uplift each other, keeping in mind the shared humanity that binds us all.
