Travelling Expands Your Everything

“Travelling Expands Your Everything”

My previous Podcast guest, Amanda Carneiro, said the above profound one-liner when we were talking about travelling and why it’s your greatest teacher.

When you are backpacking, you are often exposed to situations that you never expect…

  • Flat tyres in the middle of nowhere
  • Close encounters with wild animals
  • Travelling on crammed busses or trains
  • Eating foods that you’ve never heard of
  • Tropical thunderstorms when you’re on your scooter
  • Having all your luggage stolen
  • Not speaking the local language
  • Running out of money, or your cards not working

You can look at these as life problems or life lessons.

Viewing them as life lessons, creates a different response in you chemically and emotionally.

You realise that this is your opportunity to face challenges head on, to learn, and to build resilience.

Being agile and adaptable to what life throws at you is a super power.

I’m so proud of my little daughter, because she has the courage of a Lion. Today we went out in the pouring rain to go and get some cash and groceries.

It was entirely voluntary on her part….and we had an absolute blast!!

Driving super slowly on the scooter, while getting drenched, we sang the whole way there!!

Not for one second did she moan or anything. She just embraced it and loved it.

The tenacity and resilience she is building will make her unstoppable as a young girl.

Mostly the sense of adventure will hopefully be something she keeps in her bones her whole life!

Be like a 2.5 year old girl and use uncomfortable moments to expand your everything!
