Implement More Fun and Play into your Life

Rediscovering the Importance of Fun and Play in Modern Living

Case Bradford and I, share our thoughts on the joy created by play

Half the issue we’re dealing with at the moment is that people have lost the ability to have fun. You know, we’ve only got a short amount of time on this planet. Seriously. Do we really want to be super serious about absolutely everything? We need to remember that we’re designed to laugh and enjoy ourselves, and it’s genuinely good for us, both chemically and mentally.

It feels like as we grow older, the joy of play and fun gets beaten out of us. We forget how to have fun. This is a deep observation I’ve noticed too. If you were to guess, why do you think people aren’t having fun anymore? Why are they taking life so seriously?

There could be several reasons. People might feel isolated and lack community. There’s also a fear of what others think. Additionally, many people have dysregulated nervous systems, which trap them in a fight-or-flight mode, making them take everything too seriously. This combination of factors seems to suppress our inner child and sense of playfulness.

Consider this: as we age, our responsibilities increase. We have to pay taxes, deal with fines, and handle numerous other adult responsibilities that can feel overwhelming. These micro-anxieties chip away at our ability to enjoy life. We lose that essence of who we are because of the constant worries.

Adding to this, there’s a lack of gratitude and insufficient sleep. Technology also overwhelms us with information, much of which is designed to scare us. News organisation’s bombard us with fear-inducing content to drive clicks and make money. This constant fear-mongering contributes to a significant reduction in our ability to find joy in life.

Despite all these challenges, I (Case) believe that the foundation of a high quality of life lies in tapping into our inner child and maintaining a sense of playfulness. It’s crucial for mental health. Embracing this mindset is key to maintaining mental well-being, and I hope to inspire more people to do the same.

In a world where modern health and lifestyle trends often focus on productivity and seriousness, it’s vital to remember the importance of fun and play. Let’s not forget to enjoy life and allow ourselves to laugh. By doing so, we can improve our mental health and overall quality of life. Let’s spark that sense of playfulness in ourselves and others. It’s a powerful way to approach life, and I believe it’s essential for living well in our modern world.
